Cheap DOT COM Websites For 10$ US Only.In these times of economic recession everyone wishes to save money. If you want to start a dot com website you will have to shell out dollars for hosting it.
Using Blogger you can have a website where the hosting is totally free and you have to pay only for the domain name..........
1. CREATE GOOGLE ACCOUNT.
The first step is to create a Google Account.
2. Create a Blog.
The second step is to login at Blogger.com using your Google Account and click Create a Blog link on Dashboard. Follow the arrows to create your blog. This blog will have the address like this http://MYBLOG.blogspot.com. In the next step we will get rid of the 'blogspot' in the address and make it http://www.MYSITE.com
3. BUY A DOMAIN NAME.
In the third step we buy a domain name. You can buy one from any domain registrar. If you buy it from Blogger (Credit Card required) it will cost only 10$ and comes with free Google Apps and following free features :
- Free Private domain registration (7$ value).
- Free Email (Gmail) (7GB space): myname@mysite.com
- Free Autoconfigured DNS records (15$ value).
- Free calendar, docs and sites.
You also save about 7-10$ per month on hosting since Blogger hosting is free.
4. CONFIGURE DOMAIN.
If you buy a domain from Blogger your blog is autoconfigure to point to it.
If you buy domain from other domain registrars you have to configure the CNAME record for 'www.MYSITE.COM' and 'MYSITE.com' to point to ghs.google.com.
5. CONFIGURE GOOGLE APPS.
If you buy domain from Blogger this is autoconfigured for you.
If bought from others you have to configure the A record for 'MYSITE.COM' as follows :
MYSITE.com. 3600 IN A 64.233.179.121
MYSITE.com. 3600 IN A 66.249.81.121
MYSITE.com. 3600 IN A 72.14.207.121
and configure the CNAME record for 'www.MYSITE.COM' to point to ghs.google.com
6. CONFIGURE GOOGLE APPS. EMAIL.
The next step is to configure the email in Google Apps so that http://mail.MYSITE.com goes to your new mailbox. For this you have to change the MX records for MYSITE.COM as follows :
Set any TTL values to the maximum allowed.

ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 10
ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 20
ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. 20
ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 30
ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 30
ASPMX4.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 30
ASPMX5.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. 30
Blogger/Google does not provide domain management services. All changes to CNAME, A and MX records have to be made through the domain registrar site. At present if you buy domain name through Blogger you can choose either Godaddy.com or enom.com.
Login at Google Apps. (https://www.google.com/a/MYSITE.com/) replace MYSITE with your domain name. Then click on Domain Settings------>Domain Names------->Advanced DNS Settings. This section is only present if you have purchased domain through Blogger. From there sign into Godaddy/Enom.com to change the records.
7. CONFIGURE GOOGLE DOCS, CALENDAR, SITES AND START PAGE.
To configure Google Docs, Calendar, Sites and Start page to work with MYSITE.COM first login to your domain registrar and create subdomains like this :
start.MYSITE.COM
docs.MYSITE.COM
calendar.MYSITE.com
sites.MYSITE.COM
mail.MYSITE.COM
Then change the CNAME record for each of the above subdomains to point to ghs.google.com. Allow 4-6 hours for the change to propagate to all DNS servers. Lastly login to your Google Apps account and go to :
https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/MYSITE.com/CustomUrl
and check the custom URL boxes and save.
Conclusion : You now have a site : http://www.mysite.com at 10$ per year hosted free by Blogger.

Vin, if the cost is 10$, ¿what's the meaning of the other costs of 7$ and 15$ that you mention in your post?
And another question: ¿Is there any problem if you use this domains from a country outside the US?

With a credit card you can buy a domain from Blogger and it will cost you 10$ US per year in which is included privacy protection and DNS management.
If you buy it from outside Blogger you will have to pay around 7$ per year for privacy protection and 15$ per year or more for DNS manager to change A and CNAME records.
Some registrars give it free if you buy hosting which is around 9$ US per MONTH depending on which plan!
But as your blog is hosted by Blogger you do not require hosting at all!
SO you end up spending 108$ (9x12) per year for unrequired hosting to save 32$ on domain registration!!!
You can use custom domains from any country outside US unless that country chooses to block it for political reasons.

I paid with my VISA and I received a verification to my email thesikaleon@gmail.com.
My domain is from GoDaddy.com as I can see in this page https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/thesikaleon.com/DomainSettingsAdvancedDns
I know that by the time I used a blogger service to change my domain I don't need to do anything with the DNS settings.
It's now the third day and the blog is still in transition!
Notice that all the links in my blog changed into http://www.thesikaleon.com/whatever but nothing works.
What should I do?

Login at Godaddy through Google Apps and change the CNAME and A records for your domain.
Then login at Blogger.com and go to :
Settings----->Publishing---->Click Switch to Blogspot.com---->Type in
Word Verification correctly----->Save settings.
Check by clicking View Blog link at top. It should go to the
blogspot.com address.
Then click Custom Domains on same tab------>Click Advanced
Settings----->In Your Domain field type 'www.thesikaleon.com' without
quotes and then the word verification correctly and save settings.

I made it. In the blogger's panel I choosed custom domain the 'http://thesikaleon.com' intead of 'http://www.thesikaleon.com'
And just below I marked the box "Redirection www.thesikaleon.com to thesikaleon.com"
So now both domains work
But PROBLEMS AGAIN

That is OK if you want it without the www to be the primary land up location. If you want it to be www.thesikaleon.com then put that in Your Domain box.
Then check box to redirect thesikaleon.com to www.thesikaleon.com. Never mind if you get error message.

hello Vin I think I have a problem once again

I changed the DNS settings, by reading your instructions. The problem I have is that the www.greekschat.com is working but when I choose in the blogger's control panel "redirection greekschat.com to www.greekschat.com" I take a mistake "Blogs may not be hosted at naked domains". Moreover the original domain http://thesikaleon-chatroom.blogspot.com is not redirected to http://www.greekschat.com
I have another blog http://thesikaleon.com and I had no such problems about this "naked domain" etc

Login to your Google Apps and delete Sites, Calendar, Docs and all which you are not using.
Then login to your Domain Manager and delete CNAME record for Sites, gmail, calendar and all others except for 'www'.

Still I can't redirect it to greekchat.com ("naked domain problem)

I read your post and submited by blogpost to blogger 's custom domain which bought for 10$ . Now when u say in your post about changing the domain settings DNS settings, it says then google would not help you with its application as it becomes third party .So should i just leave it like that .. what steps should i take later ...Please can you help me .

Did you register domain as Greekschat.net (capital G) or as greekschat.net ?
Also what is entered in your Settings---->Publishing---->Custom Domains--->Advanced ---->Your Domain box ? Capital G or small G ?
