Put Powerpoint and Pdf Files in Blog.

One method of putting Powerpoint presentations and Pdf files in your blog is by uploading them to a free host and putting the file links in your blog. This method does not allow you to actually display the files in your blog. Viewers can download the files and then view them on their PC.


Another method uses Google Presentations where you can create your presentations and show them on your blog in an iframe. This is not a very optimal method.


You can also convert Powerpoint presentations into Flash and then embed them in your blog post.


Here is another easy method with which you can embed powerpint presentations, word documents, pdf files and audio files in your blog..................

EMBED POWERPOINT IN BLOG

Create your powerpoint presentation or have a file ready.

Create a free account at Scribd.com. Scribd is a site which lets you publish and share your files online. You can publish, convert, embed, analyze, and read documents using their custom Flash document viewer. Upload your file there and in the sidebar you will get the code under Embed. Copy and paste the code in Edit Html tab of post viewer. If you want to resize the presentation click the 'advanced' link to customize the height and width. See below :

CONVERT FILES

After uploading your file to Scribd click the download link in the sidebar and choose whatever option : pdf, doc, powerpoint etc. The file is downloaded in that format

EMBED PDF FILES IN BLOG

I converted the above powerpoint presentation as a pdf file. Then I uploaded the pdf file and pasted the EMBED code below :


Above is a pdf file containing one slide of the presentation per page.

FREE BLOG PUBLICITY

You can upload Word (.doc), PDF (.pdf), text (.txt), PowerPoint (.ppt), Excel (.xls), Postscript (.ps), or LIT (.lit) file and even MP3 podcasts to Scribd containing information about your blog. You can tag these files with relevant keywords. You can also join Groups of your interest within Scribd and publicize your blog or site. After login at Scribd click on the Groups link at the top.


When you view your document at Scribd relevant documents are also shown on the same topic. For instance you can check out my presentation at BBD BLOG. Scribd also gives Traffic analysis of your document by clicking the link at the bottom of the sidebar.

Google Docs Presentations In Blog.

Google has introduced presentations feature in it's Google Docs and Spreadsheets package. Now you need not use other methods of putting presentation in your blog.


You can organize, share, present, and collaborate on presentations, using your web browser. You can publish them and send the URL to friends. I was able to create a presentation in a jiffy and................



though at the moment there is no code given by them to embed it in your blog page, I used the <iframe> tag to put it in this page :



You can click on the arrow at the bottom to see the next slide. As you can see it has all features of any other presentation. You can upload images to it. There are a number of themes available to choose from. To see it fully in your browser go to :

Google Presentation

Though I didn't see some features like slide transitions they will possibly be included later on. To create your own go to Google Docs and click on New----->Presentation. You can also import your existing presentations from your PC (.ppt or .pps) files upto 10MB. When presenting it participants are connected through Google Talk and can chat simultaneously through the sidebar at the right.

Presentation in your Blog.

You can put a presentation in your blog..........

To do this go to spresent.com and create a presentation online. The interface is fairly intuitive with a toolbar and File menu at the top and a insert Object tab at the side. See image below (Click it to enlarge it).




The files made are stored free at the spresent server.
After making the presentation and saving it click on Publish----->Embed/HTML menu to get the code to paste in your blog like I have done below.

This presentation is made online in Flash.


If you wish to put a Powerpoint presentation in your blog you will have to convert it into Flash using PPT2Flash tool from sameshow.com. Insert the flash in your blog post with an "Object" tag.

You can also upload the Presentation to a freehost like Googlepages and provide the link to it in your blog.


ZOHO SHOW - You can also use http://show.zoho.com to create online presentations. Here you can upload your powerpoint files and then embed the presentation in your blog or site.
